Welcome to GOD TV. I’m Peter van den Berg working with Christ For All Nations and it’s my real joy to spend this time with you and to share something from the Word of God. I have been changed in my Christian experience by the words of the apostle Paul in Romans 8 where he talks about life in the spirit. What a wonderful thing it is to think that you and I, mere mortals; sinful men and women, boys and girls, like you and I can actually live life by the Spirit of God.
I want to read you what Paul says in Romans Chapter 8 verse 8. He says, “Those controlled by the sinful nature of man cannot please God.Verse 9, ” But you, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature, but by the Spirit – capital S, the Spirit of God. If the spirit of God lives in you, You are controlled by the spirit of God. Isn’t that wonderful!
You know, as I read this, I think does this apply to me? You may say, “No. Surely that applies to ministers and well-known preachers.” No! This applies to you! Paul was writing this to ordinary people like you and me. He says you are not controlled by the sinful nature. No matter how much you feel the cut and thrust of things you are ashamed of and not proud of. He said you are not controlled by that. You are controlled by the Spirit of God. And if you and I can be controlled by the Spirit of God then we are free indeed. Free to be victorious! Free of guilt! Free of the things that bind people and make them do what they don’t want to do! It’s different for you today.
I want to pray for you right now because of what Paul said. You are controlled by the Spirit of God. Lord, I thank you for my friends listening right now. I thank you that your Spirit controls them; your Spirit guides and leads right now. I pray that in these hours ahead, this day, they would experience the direction of your spirit. In Jesus Name, Amen.
