Trusting God

Transcript

Hi, I’m Kristene DiMarco with Bethel Music and thank you for watching God Today. Sometimes it is the hardest thing in the world to trust God. Often times because we don’t see what He sees. I know that for me personally, I had a really hard time with worry, and worry just consumed my life. I would almost develop stories of things that hadn’t even happened yet. I would just worry about things that maybe never would take place. I remember standing in worship one day and just asking God: “God would you just please help me; please help me.”

And He spoke to my heart and He said, “Put your worries and your wonders to rest. I made you and I formed you from the dust. Look around and see the birds of the air; not one of them is concerned if they are good enough.”

I think many times in the Bible, God spoke, “Fear Not…” and He asked why are we so afraid? I think it’s funny because His perspective is so much bigger and sometimes, often, we can only see to the end of our noses. But we just need to ask, “God, will You give me the perspective You have? Will You give me an eternal perspective of the way things actually are?” Sometimes you have to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.

Let’s pray. “God we just ask that it would be easy today and tomorrow, to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. We just ask for the ability to catch those thoughts, and catch those worries, and to place them before You and ask You if it is even valid. We just commit today to trust You before we trust anything else. In Jesus Name, Amen.

I used to worry a lot more than I do today…mostly about things that had not happened but in my mind, could happen. God convicted me about this and flat out told me my problem was a “trust” problem. There is nothing wrong with having a plan A and B but those plans many times turn into worrying and that is a lack of trust. I memorized a few verses that helped keep me focused. Phil 4:6 – (NLT) – Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Read Matthew 6:25-34 each and every morning – “25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
