If we didn’t fear Him, then we would run off into our own life and be disobedient children and never be true sons of the Kingdom.

Hi, I am Roy Fields with Run With Fire Ministries and this is God Today. I want to share with you something that has been upon my heart for this past year. Just recently, this has come upon my heart. God has shown me something about Him that I think we are missing in the Body of Christ. You know what that is? The fear of the Lord.

Proverbs Chapter 9, Verse 10 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Now for somebody that hears that for the first time it sounds really terrifying. It sounds, “Oh my goodness, I thought we weren’t supposed to have a spirit of fear? The Lord has given me a spirit of love and power and a sound mind?” That is true, but the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. That is what Solomon said.

Now I’ll tell you why this is so crucial in a Christian’s life. If you have a son that has been disobedient and let’s paint the picture. There’s a son at home with the mother and he has become disobedient. The mother will discipline him but most times she’ll say, “Wait till your father comes home, he’s going to deal with you.”

That sounds terrible. You know I didn’t ever like that feeling. My mom kind of had to turn around and say, “I’m home”. But here’s the deal. There is a fear in you for when your father is going to come home because you know you are going to have to face the music, so to speak, you are going to have to have to deal with this thing that you have been going through. The beauty of it is that God loves those whom He chastises. He loves those whom He rebukes and I’ll tell you why. Because, if we didn’t have the correction of the Lord in our life and if we didn’t fear Him, then we would run off into our own life and be disobedient children and never be true sons of the Kingdom.

So I want to encourage you today, let the fear of the Lord begin to start the runnings of wisdom through your life because if you have the fear of the Lord, it’s the beginning of wisdom and it will change you.
