I realized that God was not falling off of the throne every time I made a mistake.
John Garfield

Welcome to God Today, my name is John Garfield, I’m with “”.  I want to talk to you for 2 minutes about “initiative”.  When I was young in the Lord, and every time I made a mistake or did something that didn’t quite measure up, I felt like I was into presumption and out of the will of God.  And those mistakes just made me feel terrible.  And as I grew in the Lord I realized that God was not falling off of the throne every time I made a mistake and there’s this balance between wisdom and revelation.  Maturity is carrying a balance between those two.  Revelation is God’s part. He can talk to us and we can hear his voice and when God takes a step we can follow.  But, wisdom is when we know what the Father is doing and we take a step and our Father follows us.  Listen to Ephesians 1:17, “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you may know Him better.”

So Father, I am giving men and women permission to be wise, Father, to take initiative, and Lord, that it’s ok if we make a mistake, you’re not going to fall of the throne.  So Lord, I am asking that, Father, you would put it in our hearts to take initiative for you, to do exploits and to see mighty things happen because your hand is upon your people. And, Lord, we just thank you for your favor, and Lord, cause us to be bold and courageous and to do great works for you. Thank You, Lord.
