I want to encourage you right now to take that armor on and make it your strength to go up against the enemy.

Shalom, I’m Rabbi Scott Sekulow of Congregation Beth Adonai and welcome to God Today.   Today I want to share with you a topic of putting on the full armor of God.  Now, many of you as kids were in Sunday School and they would have you take out a piece of paper and draw the full armor of God and it was always a Roman soldier.  Right?  But, there’s a problem with that because who are the enemies of the Jewish people?  The Romans.  So why would putting on the full armor of God mean looking like our enemy?  On the contrary – God wants us to look like Him.

Who are His soldiers?  They were the Levites, they were the priests.  So, when we look at putting on the full armor of God, we’re actually putting on our priestly garments.  The breastplate represents the breastplate the high priest wore.   The hat represented his crown.  But, most importantly, his faith represents the Bible – the word that we can stand by.  These are the elements that we have.  And God’s sword?  That’s the amazing thing.   That’s the “shofar” –  God’s weapon of mass destruction what can take down walls of Jericho.   This is what He wants us to put on.  When we’re dealing with a spiritual battle – you know there’s a saying that says you don’t take a knife to a gunfight.  When you’re dealing with the devil you need to take your spiritual garments.  You need to put on your spiritual outfit, your spiritual armor and that’s what takes down the devil today and that’s what God is calling us to do.

Forget about the pictures you used to draw about and put on God’s full armor.  Look like His priesthood because that’s what He’s calling us to be today.  I want to encourage you right now to take that armor on and make it your strength to go up against the enemy.  I want to pray with you right now.  Abba, Father, we just come before you right now.  Lord, we thank you for giving us your armor, your weapons, your word to stand firm behind it.  And we ask this in your son, Yeshua’s, precious name.  Amen.  Thank you and God bless.
