Hi, I’m Pastor Brent from Faith Alive Family Church in Saskatoon, Canada, welcome to God Today. Today I want to talk to you about when life is not fair.   When life isn’t fair.  You know, life isn’t fair to all of us at one time or another.   There’s things that happen in our lives – you know stuff happens whether you’re a good person or whether you’re a bad person.  And sometimes life isn’t fair.  But, what do we do?  How do we respond when life isn’t fair?  I want to encourage you today to not let bad things in life get you down or hold you back or stop you from really pursuing God or your destiny or your future.

Life isn’t fair sometimes.  It’s unfortunate, but we often teach our children at an early age that life is fair.  Just picture the local classroom, or kindergarten room, or pre-school room when treats are handed out or gum is handed out.  What happens when one kid doesn’t get a piece of gum?  Well, they scream murder and there’s a bg hullabaloo about it because they want it to be fair.  And on some level, human beings, we want it to be fair.  But, I want to tell you something – life isn’t always fair.  Sometimes life hands you lemons.  And what do you do when life hands you a lemon?  You make lemonade, of course.  I want to encourage you to understand that – that we need to not compare ourselves with other people.    And stop complaining about it or stop growing angry or bitter when life doesn’t go our way.  God has not left us helpless or hopeless, but He’s given us the power to change our future.  He’s given us the power to change our circumstances.

You’re not stuck in a rut, you’re not stuck in a place of not being fair.  You can change your future.  I want to encourage you to do that today.  We need to understand that God is not limited.  You look at life, we look at other people and we say, “They’re prospering.  They’re more successful.  They’re gaining the advantage.  Woe is me.”  You know what, there is no woe is us because we’ve got God on our side.  God is not limited.  His resources are not limited.  Really, the people that limit God is us.  I want to encourage you today to stop limiting God and start looking at the potential.  Start looking at what God can do for you.

I want to read a scripture – it says here in Luke 6:36, “Be merciful just as your father is merciful.”  Then it says, “Give and it will be given to you.  A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over.  With the measure that you use it will be measured back to you.”   See, this scripture is often tied with money, tied into finances and prosperity.  But really, it’s talking about giving mercy and getting mercy back in return.

I want to encourage you today.  When life isn’t fair, there is a tough time happening in your life, don’t despair, instead go show mercy everywhere you go.  Forgive. Love.  Don’t condemn, don’t criticize.  But, instead show mercy.  You watch what God will do – He will change your future, He will change your life.  I encourage you.  Have a good attitude, have a merciful outlook and you will see changes in your life.

Let’s pray.  Father, I thank you for every viewer watching today.  Lord, I pray that even if they are in a tough time right now, maybe life isn’t fair, Lord, I pray they would look to you.  Their faith and their courage would be strengthened right today.  Lord, in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
