Hello, my name is Fergus Scarfe, and welcome to this edition of God Today. Sometimes finding peace in the midst of a storm is really difficult. The Bible says in Philippians 4, “We are to rejoice in the Lord always and again I say ‘Rejoice!’ Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.” Then there’s these amazing verses that are hard to believe and frankly, harder to do. But, there is an amazing promise that the Lord gives us at the end. “Be anxious for nothing [verse 6 says], but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding [what a promise] will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Sometimes it’s in the midst of the storm that we need to stand on the word of God. And to acknowledge that, “Be anxious for nothing”, is in fact a tremendous instruction. Because He gives us the answer. If we will pray for thanksgiving the peace of God which passes our understanding will guard our hearts and minds. Before you go out in your day today or perhaps it’s at the end of your day, let’s make sure we go no further without seeing the Lord’s peace guard each one of our hearts.

Let’s pray. Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray for my brother, I pray for my sister, that we would all walk anxious for nothing. That, Father, as we share our hearts with you, as we share our challenges with you, as we share our difficulties with you, that you would cover our hearts. And that you would protect our hearts, and fill our hearts with peace – peace that passes understanding. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
