These catastrophes, they might not be of God, but He wants to refine your faith

Hey, Kyle Lance Martin here with Time To Revive and welcome to God Today. Lately, we have been seeing all kinds of catastrophes.  Hurricanes earthquakes, fires. Some of you might not have been in those, but you’ve had your own personal catastrophe.  You’ve had your own interaction and it’s like, “What in the world is going on?” Maybe your financials have just fallen through the roof.

I have a daughter who is 12 years old now, Mya.   But when she was 18 months old she had a rare blood disease called Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH).  It’s a rare blood disease and 8 kids out of a million get it. I had a personal catastrophe come to me. The question is, in this process of encountering things that you weren’t planning on, how do you respond?  It’s a matter of a perspective.

In fact, in James 1:2 it says, “Consider it a great joy, my brothers, whenever you experience various trials.”  Whenever. In other words, there are no exceptions. “Whenever you experience various trials, consider it great joy knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.”  Maybe you lost your roof. But, God wants to actually, maybe test your faith so that you can endure. Scripture says, “Endurance must do its complete work. So that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.”  I believe sometimes these catastrophes, they might not be of God, but He wants to refine your faith so that you can look more like Christ wherever you’re at.

Heavenly Father, we just pray right now that if there is somebody going through a personal catastrophe, dealing with some experiences, Father, I pray that we recognize that this can create great joy, refine us, and allow us to be endured.  Father, I pray in the name of Jesus that we would have a Godly perspective no matter what comes our way. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
