Hi, I’m Jeanne Nigro, author, and speaker, and founder of Jeanne Nigro Ministries. Welcome to God Today. I’m here today to share with you some new insights about stress. Are you feeling stress today? I was right before I came here. We all experience stress. The thing about stress that I want to share with you today is that it has become so socially acceptable that we feel it is a part of life, a part of our culture. In fact, it is a socially acceptable word for fear. The Bible says do not fear and we know that is a sin but it never says do not stress. So stress just goes like, “Well, hey, this is 2017, 2018, everybody is stressed. And if I am not stressed it must be that I a not doing enough, that I am a slacker.”
I am here to share today that behind stress there is always a lie that you are believing about yourself and about God. Behind fear as well. Next time you are stressed just stop and say what lie am I believing about you and what lie am I believing about myself? For me, it is typically that I am all alone, I am on my own, I need to hold it all together or I’m not going to make it. Or I am going to be bad. These old messages from even when I was growing up come back at me. With lies, if we are believing lies, we have to remember who is the father of lies? It is Satan. It is the enemy. When we are stressed, when we are believing lies in our stress we are giving the enemy ground in our life.
The next time you stress, stop and think, “Is it really worth giving the enemy ground in your life? Is it really worth blocking your intimacy with God?” It is impossible to experience intimacy with God when you are stressed. Let’s pray and stop and ask the Lord to help us to recognize the lies. He wants to show you the lies you are believing. He desires truth in your innermost parts. Lord, God, we come before you today. We confess to you that we have been living in stress and that blocks us from you and from all that you desire for us. Help me to know, to see, and to realize what lie I am believing about you and about myself. Help me to stop giving the enemy ground through stress and to confess it and to know that you are with me and that you are powerful and you will always, always be there for me. We ask this in Yeshua’s name. Amen.
