Hi, my name is Lee Thompson. I am the commissioner of the NSL, the Nspire Sports League. Welcome to God Today. I want to talk about identity because I was a person before I found Christ, who didn’t know who I was. I had success in the sports world, drove nice cars, had a nice bank account, wore lots of nice clothes. But, every night that I would go home I was lost. I was unhappy. I had enough money, and I still couldn’t buy happiness. I was the guy that would say, “Money can buy happiness.” That was a great face to put on for social media or friends that I would be around in restaurants.
It was when I found Christ, or when He found me I should say, I realized I was a son. We are sons and daughters of the King, King Jesus. He taught me who I was. Without anything. He could take my clothes, my cars, my house, and my money, and show me a better way. I probably would have laughed. Until I believed in Jesus. Today I have lost it all. But, I am happier today, with Jesus, then I was with Ferraris, Lambos, and Armanis, big bank accounts, and eating at the greatest steakhouses. Because what I have today is real. It is a value that is beyond this world. I am here for a temporary time. His world is forever. My life is forever with Him and my value isn’t stored here. Just like He said, “Things we create here and save up is where our heart will be.” The treasures I am serving up today are for the Kingdom. When I go, when He comes to get me, that is where I will see my value – in Heaven. My identity is being a son and sharing and allowing His love to flow through me to you.
My prayer for you today is: Lord, just help us to see our value in you. To take all the jewels of the Kingdom that you have placed inside of us and let us flow through others so that they too can see their value in your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
