I said to Him, “Lord, I trust you.” I then felt an overwhelming sense of peace come over me at that moment.

Hello, my name is Sonny Jaynes. I want to welcome you to God Today. I have been in the ministry for over 40 years. I felt that God has spoken to me specifically, many times. I want to share one of those times with you. My wife and I regularly have devotions in the morning, together. Where we read from Oswald Chambers’ devotional Bible, as a routine. We usually read a chapter and then reference the scripture that pertains to it. Sometimes something is said. That really ministers to us both. On this particular morning, we were considering the chapter called “Theology of Rest”. I want to quote to you a statement by Oswald Chambers as a part of that devotional. He said, “A great point is reached spiritually when we stop worrying God over the personal matters or over any matter. God expects of us, the one thing that glorifies Him. That is to remain absolutely confident in Him. Remember what He has said beforehand and sure His purposes will be fulfilled.”

One of the scripture references He gave was Mark 4:35-41. I will paraphrase that story. As the story goes, the disciples had just finished a time in ministry and they got aboard the boat across the sea. As they got out to sea, a big storm came up. The waves were splashing against the boat. The water was splashing in and filling up the boat. Needless to say, the disciples were freaking out. I don’t blame them for freaking out. I have been in the ocean in a small boat when a storm came up and it is scary.

You know Jesus was up in the stern of the boat, asleep on a pillow. The disciples went up and began to shake him. They said, “Master! Don’t you even care if we perish?!” Jesus just slowly rose up and He said, “Peace be still.” The seas were calmed. This time I was struggling with some situations with my family. Also, the confusion in the world and all the negative news casts. I heard the Lord say, “Trust me. I am the Prince of Peace.” I said to Him, “Lord, I trust you.” I then felt an overwhelming sense of peace come over me at that moment.

Friend, if you feel you are in a sea of trouble and you find no sense of peace. I want to pray for you today. Father, in the name of Jesus, we come before your throne of grace. We speak on behalf of those folks listening to this devotional. Father, I ask right now that they would learn to trust you and believe you that you have the power to calm whatever the problems are in their life. We ask you this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
