Hi, my name is Katie Souza and welcome to God Today.

You know, for my whole life I was addicted to food. I would eat too fast, I would always eat too much, and I could never have enough. No matter what I would have for dinner, I would always want something more. Then when I had dessert I would feel like I needed something salty because I just had something sweet. It was never ending. I was always thinking about food, obsessed with food. Finally, God showed me a very simple, but powerful key to breaking a food addiction. That is taking communion.

In 1 Corinthians 10, I like to read it from the Amplified Classic, it talks about communion. This is one of those chapters that not many people quote when they are talking about communion. I would like to read it to you now. It says, “The cup of blessing of wine at the Lord’s Supper upon which we ask God’s blessing, does it not mean that in drinking it we participate in and share a fellowship, a communion in the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, does it not mean that in eating it we participate and share a fellowship of communion in the body of Christ?” According to Paul, that’s who is talking here, we take communion we actually fellowship with the body and the blood of Jesus. Why is that important and how does that help break food addictions?

If you scroll down further in this same scripture, Paul says this, “I do not want you to be in fellowship and be partners with diabolical spirits by eating at their feast.” What does that mean? See, when we begin to feast unbalanced, unhealthy, overeating, eating too much, we actually start partnershipping and fellowshipping with diabolical spirits by eating at their feast. See that’s what it was, idolatry in the old days, they would always bring food and sacrifice it to idols which were really demon spirits. See, sometimes our food addictions are demonically based.

According to this scripture of Paul, the way we break our fellowship with diabolical spirits by eating at their feasts is by having “fellowship with the body and blood of Jesus”. I encourage you today. If you are addicted to food and you want to break free from addictions, take a cup of communion. Go to 1 Corinthians 10 and read it. Decree over yourself while you are taking it. As you take it, pray this prayer that I am going to pray with you right now. Lord, as a I take the body and the blood I know I am fellowshipping with the body of Christ and His sacred blood poured out for me. As I do that, it is going to break every fellowship that I have with diabolical spirits when I have been eating at their feast. I decree that they body and the blood of Jesus are so powerful that it will wipe out every fellowship I have with them. It will break my food addictions. I decree this for you in Jesus’ name. My name is Katie Souza and this is God Today.
