Hello, I am Ford Taylor with the FSH Group and Transformational Leadership. Welcome to God Today. I don’t know about you, but I have been parts of lots of different organizations. I describe an organization as any time two or more people are in a relationship. I call a leader anyone who has influence with at least one person. I have been a part of a lot of organizations that really suffered from gossip. Gossip is when you say something negative about someone to someone who is not part of the problem or part of the solution. Let me ask you a question. Which category do you fall in? Great people talk about vision and ideas. Average people talk about things. Small people talk about other people. Smaller people let them. Even smaller people join them. And even smaller people tell others.
Have you ever asked yourself the question: how much gossip do I listen to? How much gossip do I spread around? I would encourage you to find a lifestyle of not listening to gossip and not speaking gossip. The benefit is yours. You will pick up a lot of time every week. You will have extra time that you did not have before when you really focus. I challenge you. Which category do you fall in? Are you a great person? An average person? Small, smaller, smaller, smaller? Which one are you? Then I challenge you – which one do you want to be? Remember: Great people talk about vision and ideas. Average people talk about things. Small people talk about other people. Smaller people let them. Even smaller people join them. And even smaller people tell others.
Would you join me in the fight against gossip? Once we stop gossiping and we learn not to be offended, I believe we could change the world in about 48 hours. Father, I ask you now if there is anyone that might be listening, that has found themselves in a place of allowing people to come to them and speak poorly, speak negatively about other people, or if they’ve found themselves in a place where they have become that person, they have become the one that goes and spreads negative rumors, gossip around other people, that you would convict their heart right now. In that conviction, they would draw a line in the sand and say, “I am no longer going to be one of those small people. I am going to move to a place of being one of those great people. I am going to shut people down from gossiping to me. I am not going to listen and I am not going to listen back.” Father, clean up all of our hearts. Remove the gossip, teach us not to be offended. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
