Hello, my friends. I am Pastor Troy Brewer of Open Door Church in Burleson, Texas. Welcome to God Today. I want to talk to you today about the importance of being ready for any type of mental attack the devil would bring to us. I want you to remember that what is real is that the devil has been messing with people’s minds for over 6,000 years. He is pretty good at it – probably really good. If you think you can withstand a sneak attack from the father of lies himself, I want you to stop and think about the number of pastors, and evangelists and upright Christians he has devoured because they didn’t recognize the enemy sneaking past the gates of their mind.
How will you keep evil from taking over your head? This incredible invasion we cannot have – you had better armor up. This is what the Bible says upon the subject of armoring up. Let’s visit there. It says, “Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you might be able to withstand the evil one,” that word “evil” means “dangerous day”, “and having done all to stand.” That is Ephesians 6.
The evil, or the dangerous day is coming, my friend. You have to have your defenses up. That’s ok, we are always living in dangerous times. If we don’t have our defenses, we will not be able to stand. He specifically called you and I to stand. God has not called you to hang in there. Because you are vulnerable when you are hanging from something. You are called to stand, it does no good to stand if you are not aromered up. Check out exactly how this works. Let’s visit this. “Stand, therefore, having guarded your ways with truth having put on the breastplate of righteousness, having shod your feet with the preparation gospel of peace. Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation and the word of the Spirit which is the Word of God.” That’s Ephesians 6:14-17.
I want you to notice all these pieces are defensive except the sword of the Spirit. That is because you are under attack everyday. My friend, you have to withstand. You have to counter attack with the weapon of the Word of God which is the sword of the Word. The devil will attack your mind with lustful, jealous angry, sensual, prideful, greedy, selfish thoughts all day, everyday, whether you fall for them or not – that is up to you. Be prepared. Suit up and stay standing.
Let’s all come before the Lord. King Jesus, sir, I come to you right here, right now. I thank you God that you have given me your armor. God, we all say “yes” to that. God we recognize, God, we cannot do this without you. We recognize, God, we have to have you. God, we declare, Father God Sir, not only the garments of a warrior, but also, God, the garments of a priest that you have clale dus to. I love you, Lord God, and I praise you sir, and I thank you for it. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen, amen, amen. My friends, you are going to stand. You are going to make it. Friends, I am Troy Brewer.
