Let the fear of the Lord begin to start the runnings of wisdom through your life.

Hi, I am Roy Fields with Run With Fire Ministries.  This is God Today. I want to share with you something that has been on my heart this past year.  Just recently this has come upon my heart. God has shown me something about Him that I think we are missing in the Body of Christ.  You know what that is? The fear of the Lord.

Proverbs 9:10 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”  For somebody that hears that for the first time, that sounds really terrifying.  It sounds, “Oh, my goodness! I thought we weren’t supposed to have a spirit of fear.  The Lord has given me a Spirit of power, and love, and sound mind.” That is true. The fear of the Lord is beginning in wisdom, that is what Solomon said.

I will tell you why this is so crucial in a Christian’s life.  If you have a son that has been disobedient. Let’s paint a picture.  There is a son at home with the mother. He has become disobedient. The mother will discipline him, but most times she will say, “Wait till your father gets home, he is going to deal with you.”  It sounds terrible. I didn’t even like that feeling. My mom kind of had to turn around and say, “I am home.”

Here is the deal.  There is a fear in you when your father is going to come home because you are going to have to face the music so to speak.  You are going to have to deal with this thing you have been going through. The beauty of it is, that God loves those whom he chastises.  He loves those whom He rebukes. I’ll tell you why. If we didn’t have the correction of the Lord in our life, and we didn’t fear Him, we would run off into our own life and be disobedient children and never be true sons of the Kingdom.

I want to encourage you today.  Let the fear of the Lord begin to start the runnings of wisdom through your life.  If you have the fear of the Lord, it is the beginning of wisdom and it will change you.
