Welcome to God Today. I am Steve Reiter with Right Turn Media and The Eternal Leadership Podcast. I transitioned from one long-time ministry as the Chief Audio Engineer to a start-up ministry around 2010. I went from 5 weeks of vacation down to less than 3. My vacation was essentially cut in half.
I was killing myself working at this new venture. I wasn’t taking care of myself, it was a real struggle. Those last 6 months, especially 2 months were especially difficult. I was getting attacked left and right from co-workers. I wasn’t taking care of myself, I wasn’t taking care of my health. I really was falling short.
It was during that season that my pastor, at the time, pulled me aside. He was a pastor in Alaska for a number of years. He told me, “Steve, when an eagle builds their nest, they use big sticks because those nests are 6 feet wide.” He said, “They use big sticks, it is very pointy. As the mother eagle is getting ready to lay eggs, she will start to lay plucked down out of her coat and lay it down in the nest. After those eaglets start to grow,” He said, “The mother eagle will instinctively move down to make the nest more uncomfortable.”
He said, “Steve, right now you are going through a season where God is removing down from this comfortable nest where you have been for 15 years,” in total that I worked for the organization’s leader. He said, “God is pulling this down out so He can prepare you for what is next. Now is your season to fly.
Right now, I feel like there are listeners and viewers watching this, and you are going through a season where it is becoming more, and more, and more uncomfortable. I want to lift you up right now and say that trust me. As hard as it was for me to leave the nest, as hard as it was for me to try and fly on my own, I had God there at the bottom. He was lifting me up and saying, “Okay, here you go. Let’s try this again.”
I want to pray for you right now. Father, for the person going through a situation that is coming more, and more, and more uncomfortable…may you supernaturally show them where it is that you are taking them. That way, they can start to move in transition into the next season. They can leave the nest where they are and get ready to fly. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
