Hi, I’m Rob Mallan for Reliant Family Church in Tampa, Florida and welcome to God Today.  Today I want to talk to you about facing your fears. I know in the Christian arena, sometimes when we bring up the word “fear” it’s a little taboo.  But, let me tell you something, everybody deals with fear. Just because you have faith, it doesn’t mean fear is not present. The thing is: which one are you paying attention to?

In this world Jesus said, “You will suffer.  You are going to encounter much trial, much tribulation, much trouble.”  But He said this, “Don’t be concerned about that because I have overcome the world.”  There are going to be opportunities every single day for you and I to be fearful. Fearful of how we are going to pay our bills, our health, our family, our kids, what is going to be our future outcome, our destiny.  What do we do and how do we do it? God has a plan. The Bible says, “If any man lack wisdom, let him ask of God who give all to men liberally and upbraideth not.” God want you to go to Him when you are having difficulties.

The thing about fear is that fear is the exact opposite of faith, but they work the same way.  If I feed my life with doubt, unbelief, things that are not in compliance with the word of God, my fear increases.  The Bible says that, “We have not been given a spirit of fear but of love, power, and of sound mind.” I can actually increases my faith and diminish my fear by allowing the word of God to come into my life.  See, so many folks spend time meditating on what could happen, what did happen, and what might happen. The BIble says to meditate in the word, “On thy word, I meditate day and night.” What’s the solution for a fearful person?  If you are anxious what do you do? The Bible says we do not need to be anxious. “Be anxious for nothing, but with prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving as we make our requests unto God, the peace of God, the shalom of God, the nothing missing, nothing broken will keep our hearts and minds.”

What are you thinking about on a daily basis?  What are you meditating on? What did Jesus tell us to do?  He told us to meditate on the word, think about the word. If the word goes in, guess what, family?  Faith is going to come out. You overcome your fears, and minimize your fears by magnifying your faith – magnifying God.  David said, “Come, let us magnify the Lord. Let us exalt His name together.” See, Jesus has a name that is above every name.  “At His name, every knee shall bow, every tongue shall confess.” You might have a mountain your way. It might be a mountain of money, you are fearful of how you are going to pay your bills.  The Bible says, “God has given you everything you need that pertains to life and godliness. He will never leave the righteous forsaken, nor His seed begging bread.”

Do you realize as I am speaking to you, how the atmosphere changes just my simply speaking the word?  I can tell you right now – in your home, you can change the atmosphere by speaking the word. In the office place, you can change the atmosphere by speaking the word.  If you are in a difficult situation and you don’t know what to do, you can change the atmosphere, you can change your situation by simply speaking the word. The Bible says in Romans, “If I keep adding word and keep hearing the word, and listening to the word, guess what happens?  My faith is built.” Family, the way you interrupt your fear into increase your faith. Increase your faith. God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of love, power, nd a sound mind. Maybe you are here right now ad you say, “I don’t know what I am going to do, how I am going to get my next meal, how I am going to pay my next bill, how I am going to take care of my kids.  What about my destiny? What about my future? Watch this. “I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord, “plans to prosper you and do you no harm.” It is settled. When God says it, when He speaks it – it is done. Don’t be like Peter who just sits in the boat, sits back and be fearful. Do like Peter and step out of the boat. Step out of the boat and walk on water. See, you don’t need to be in fear when Jesus is on the boat with you.  If He says, “Get out,” you are going to be okay.

Let me pray for you.  Father, I thank you for folks that are watching right now, that might be fearful, that might not understand what is going to happen in the future.  We don’t have to worry about the future. The future is in your hands. Father, I pray we can be in the moment, we can be in the now and walk in peace, in harmony with you, knowing that as we fill our minds and hearts with the word of God, fear will diminish.  Faith will rise. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
