I want to share with you that God wants you well. You know, everybody desires to be well. I don’t know anybody that enjoys being sick. But, sad to say, a lot of people have been taught that God wants you sick. They are either taught that God does it to you specifically because He gets glory out of suffering; it is His way of breaking you. Or some people believe that God is disinterested. He doesn’t do things like that today – God doesn’t heal people.
I tell you – if you read the Bible, the Bible is replete with Jesus healing people. He said the works that He did we would do also. It also says on 3 John 1:2, “Beloved, I wish above all things that you would prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers.” That is strong statement. I wish above everything else that you would prosper and be in health. This shows you that God is not disconnected. God is not ignorant of your suffering. He is not looking the other way. He is not detached and not caring. God wants you well. That is God’s will for you.
That raises the question, “If it is God’s will then how come everybody isn’t healed?” You have to believe in order to receive. There is actually an instance in Mark 6:5-9, where it talks about Jesus going to His hometown. He could do no mighty work. Save that He laid His hands on a few sick folk. It didn’t say He wouldn’t do it, it said He couldn’t do it. If you read it in context it is because they took offense in Him. This is His hometown of Nazareth. This is where He grew up. These people knew Him from the time He was a little boy. They were offended to think He was claiming He was something more than just a normal man. He was claiming to be the Messiah. It was because their offense and their lack of belief in Him that hindered Him.
The reason not everybody is healed is not because GOd wills it that way. Let me give a comparison. The scripture says in 2 Peter 3:9. “That God is not willing that any should perish, but all should come to repentance.” That is saying it is God’s will that everybody is saved, but is everybody saved? No. Not because God didn’t will it, and not because God hasn’t provided it. It is because not everybody believes and receives. Likewise, not everybody is healed, but not because God didn’t provide it. God has provided. He wishes above all things that you would be in health and prosper, even as your soul prospers. You have to believe.
I want to encourage you today that God wants you well. If you would begin to pray for this, God would guide you into truth. I believe healing would come your way. It is God’s will for you to be well. I pray you would receive it and let the healing power of God function in you today.
