Hi, I am Rabbi Michael Wolf, writer, director, and author. This is God Today. Do you want to be a writer? Are you a believer that is committed and you desire to tell stories that will impact lives and be transformative? If God has placed it on your heart, I truly believe that is what is going to happen. Do you believe that is what is going to happen?
I wrote a book called The Linotype Operator, about a former printer or user of a printing machine that is now outmoded. An orthodox Jew from Brooklyn New York and his unmarried, 48 year old daughter. It was a wonderful opportunity for me to pray everyday and every time I would write. When I would begin to go through the process, getting the big picture, and knowing even in that 3 act design I wasn’t going to get everything, and I wasn’t going to know everything upfront. Sometimes the story would take directions I didn’t expect. It was an adventure, and exciting adventure. Yes, it was a slow process. Things would go forward one step at a time. It is necessary to be patient and do rewriting and all these other things. It is an exciting, exciting journey to take.
Don’t worry about the publishing aspect of it. With The Linotype Operator, that worked out. It’ll work out for you. There are so many different avenues to take. Just start writing. Pray as you write and seek God’s face. People never want to get started because they never think they are going to have an opportunity to finish. But, you will finish if you continue to press on. I encourage you, and I want to pray for you that God can continue to use you in this way if you are already being used, or He will stir your heart and you will be.
Lord, I pray for those watching. There are people out there that want to write. They want to write a novel, but they don’t know where to begin. But, Lord, we begin with prayer. We begin with getting that picture, that vision in our spirit of what you are seeking to say through us and with a theme that is stirring in our hearts. Then, Lord God, they’d begin the process. Lord, bless everyone who is watching that has a heart to be creative in this area. In the name of the Messiah Yeshua Jesus. Amen.
