Hello, everyone and welcome to this morning’s edition of God Today. I am Ward Simpson and I am standing on the rooftop of the Upper Room here in Jerusalem. Can you imagine that? I don’t know where you are at. I am assuming you are in your bedroom, or your living room, or your office somewhere. Here I am in Jerusalem, bringing you today’s devotion.

What happened in the upper room? We all know it was the Last Supper. Jesus broke his bread and drank the cup. He said, “This is my body that is broken for you, this is the blood of my new covenant.” We all know that. Other things happened here as well.

After Jesus was pouring His heart out and talking to His disciples about this new covenant, you know they really didn’t understand like we do today. The Bible says in Luke 22 that a dispute broke out among them. Can you imagine? Right there in the middle of one of the most sacred times of their livelihood, of their life with Jesus. Here He is introducing the new covenant and a dispute breaks out among them? What was the dispute about? It was about who is the greatest. Who is the greatest? Jesus had to remind them that to be great in the Kingdom of God means that you have to be a servant.

God’s Kingdom and man’s kingdom are upside down. In man’s kingdom, we want to push ourselves to the top. We want to climb to the top of the ladder. We want the best jobs, the biggest salaries. We want the celebrity status. We want recognition. We want promotion. But in God’s Kingdom, God set the example and sent His son. The King of all kings. The Lord of all lords – to this Earth, to come as a servant.

I want to encourage you today. Maybe you were like me many years ago in my own life. I thought I was overlooked for a promotion. I thought I wasn’t getting ahead of where I should be going. I thought I was overlooked, but God reminded me that promotion comes from Him. He reminded me that if I want to be great in the Kingdom of God, I must be a servant. Here at God TV, we as managers are here to serve our employees. We are here to serve you as well, our God Today subscribers.

I want to encourage you today. If you want to be great in the Kingdom of God – become a servant. Would you serve someone today? Would you make it a point, wherever you go, whatever you are doing today, whether it is at home, school, work, or play – be a servant today. Put on your servant’s heart, your servant’s clothes, and be a servant today. If you want to be great, you must be a servant. That is my devotion from Jerusalem for you today.

I want to encourage you and pray for you. Father, for everyone watching today, would you give them a servant’s heart. In Jesus’ name. God bless you from Jerusalem. Until next time, I am Ward Simpson, thank you for being a subscriber to God TV.
