Hey, welcome God TV, this is Chris Mikkelson. I’m so glad you’re joining us this morning. The Lord has put on my heart this scripture found in Psalm 107 verse 2: it says, “Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy”. You know, the enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy, but God has sent His son, Jesus, that He would destroy the works of the devil, that He would redeem us from the hand of the enemy and give us back, bring us back to the Father, so that we can have right relationship with the Lord.
I want to talk to you about the word “redemption”. Redemption is such a powerful word, redemption means to buy back or to bring back. And I’m reminded of a story of a man who, back around the time of the Civil War, this man would be found often down at the slave docks buying slaves who were being sold into slavery. And this particular man was down by the slave docks bidding on a particular young slave girl. And she was there being bought, purchased that day, and he was making the bids, and here is this young slave girl was, looking at this man, thinking probably, “He’s just another man who’s going to buy me, to abuse me and take advantage of me.”
But after that man made the final bid, purchased this young slave girl, he went and got the papers, they gave him his new property and he was walking away with this young slave girl and he turned the papers over to the young girl and he said, “Young girl, now you’re free. I want to redeem you and set you free.” And that man’s name was Abraham Lincoln. He went down to the slave docks to buy back that young girl, to bring her to redeem her from the hand of the enemy.
My friends, I don’t know where you’re at or what you’re going through, but God wants to redeem you today. Maybe you’re going through a marriage problem, maybe you’re going through personal problems, maybe you’ve been under the hand of the enemy for a long time. Well, today my friends, God wants to redeem you and bring you back to Him. And if you’ll just pray with me, I believe He’ll redeem you. Just say this: “Dear Lord Jesus, come into my heart, redeem me today. Set me free from the power of the enemy and use me for Your Kingdom and glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
