Passion - God Today
Friday, August 23rd, 2019John Garfield

Hi, my name is John Garfield. Welcome to God Today. I want to talk to you for a minute about passion. We all have a desire to serve God and to do something great for Him. I was a pastor for 13 years and the Lord came to me and said John, you want to be part of the Kingdom, and I used to think that the Kingdom and the Church were the same thing. And I gave myself permission to do something different and that allowed me to become myself in a way that I’ve never had before.

In John 15:15 it says, “I’m no longer call you servants, from now on I’m calling you friends.” And there’s is the reality of the Gospel of the Kingdom is that we’re His friends and He’s allowing us to become ourselves. So the truth is that we all start out as sheep and we learn to obey, and there comes a point in our relationship with the Lord where He asks us, what’s the desire of your heart because He’s written it there: it’s in our DNA.

Father, in the name of Jesus, I’m giving men and women who are watching the show today permission to ask you for the desires of their hearts and be themselves. Let them come into your presence with thanksgiving and boldly ask for the desires of their hearts and listen to a conversation as though they’re discussing it with a friend. John 15:17 says, “My father is always at work and I too am working.” So, Lord, raise up a great army of friends who are willing to ask for the desires of their hearts. I give your people permission to be themselves in Jesus’ name. Thank you.
