Look To The Goal

Welcome to God Today. I am Steve Reiter with Right Turn Media and The Eternal Leadership Podcast.  I have a 13-year-old son who is less than two years away from getting his driver’s permit. I have spent the last year really teaching him how to recognize things around him and being aware of things around him – even as a passenger. When he gets that permit I want him to be a more capable driver than I was.

As I have been getting into this season I have often been thinking about some of my own mistakes that I have made early on as a driver. One of them, in particular, was that I was so focused on making sure my place in the road was correct, that I would be looking towards the front of the car at the side of the road to make sure I was properly placed within the lane. As I started to go on from that I realized that I wasn’t looking at what was coming up in front of me.

As I have been teaching my son that, I am reminded of the scripture in Philippians 3:14 where Paul says, “I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Or on the way it is worded in The Message, “I have got my eye on the goal. Where God is beckoning us onward.” So, for those of you right now that are focused only on what is in front of you, and you can’t really see where you are going because you have so much stuff going on right in front of you, I want to lift you up right now.

Father, I ask right now for some clarity for a break in the action, for the person that is listening to this right now, watching this right now. That they can get their eyes off of the mud on their windshield, or the stuff that is going on right in front of them. That they, instead, can take a little time and focus on what their ultimate goal is so that they can recalibrate and point themselves towards where you are taking them. We love you. Thank you, in Jesus’ name. Amen. This is God Today, I am Steve Reiter with Right Turn Media and The Eternal Leadership Podcast. Be awesome.
