Why would God sacrifice His only son to save you unless the value of your life is truly worth saving?

Hi, everyone.  Welcome to God Today.  My name is Matthew Bell, I am an author, speaker, and entrepreneur.  Today I want to share with you something that I pray is going to really bless your day.  I want to talk to you about your identity and the power that comes from knowing who you are in Christ.  Let’s start with some scripture. I want to share with you John 1:9-13, from the Message translation. Here it goes: “The Life-light was the real thing.  Every person entering Life He brings into Light. He was in the world, the world was there through Him, and yet the world didn’t even notice. He came to His own people, but they didn’t want Him, but whoever did want Him who believed He was who He claimed and would do what He said, He made to be their true selves.  Their child-of-God selves. These are the God-begotten, not blood-begotten, not flesh-begotten, not sex-begotten.” John 1:9-13.

I firmly believe that it is impossible to know what God has called you to do in business or life in general without first knowing who you are and who He has created you to be.  You are not what you do, how you look, where you come from, where you have been, your accomplishments, your failures, the job title in front of your name, the Ph.D. or credentials after your name.  Nor anything other than this one simple thing: you are a child of God. A son or daughter of the most high King. God created you in His own image. He calls you son and He calls you daughter. Your value and your worth are intrinsically deposited into your life through God’s infinite love for you.  Jesus’ work on the cross gave your life the value that it has at the very moment you were created. God loved you and knew you before you were even created inside your mother’s womb.

Now, God’s love for you is so big and so vast that He was willing to send His own son to die in your place.  Your life was purchased through the sacrifice through another’s life, Jesus. The Son of God. God in the flesh.  Because of this very fact, your life has a value beyond measure. Your life was purchased by the blood of Christ. Through His son, God essentially came down and gave His own life for you.  That means the value that God places on your life is on par with Jesus. Now, let me ask you this: why would God sacrifice His only son to save you unless the value of your life is truly worth saving?

Bill Johnson from Bethel Church in Redding, CA, once had this to say about it: “If it is true that the value of something is measured by what someone will pay for it, then we need to rethink our worth.”  I just love that quote from Bill. It is so simple, yet so powerful. For me as an entrepreneur, I have found it is very important to separate my career identity from my true identity in Christ. I am first a son of God.  My identity as a child of God is a revelation I needed before I could operate effectively in the other aspects of my life, especially business. That is a revelation I want to impart to you today. God calls you son or God calls you daughter and that is the foundation of your true identity.

Let’s pray together.  Father, God, I ask you would give everyone who is watching revelation of the value of their lives.  Show them what it means to be your son or your daughter, loved unconditionally without judgment and without shame.  Help everyone who is watching today to receive a fresh revelation of your love and the revelation of who they are as your children in whom you are well pleased.  Have a blessed and powerful day.
