Communion Context


Hi, I’m Jeffrey Levinson with GOD TV and welcome to God Today. Today I’d like to talk to you a little bit about communion.  Give you some context for communion. Communion is mentioned throughout the Gospels. I’m going to read you this scripture and give you a little context.  Because I believe what it really says is that Jesus wants to commune with us – often. 


It says, “Jesus, on the night He was betrayed took the bread and when He had given thanks He broke it and said, ‘This is my body which is for you.  Do this in remembrance of me.’ The same way He had also taken the cup after supper saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood do this as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.’”

You know, we often have communion at church.  It happens once a month or whenever it happens and the pastor will expound on the communion.  But, very often they forget the first part of the bread and the wine.
