Well, hello, this is Robert Henderson with Robert Henderson Ministries and this is God Today. You know, God really does love us, but as I’ve said before, He wants to challenge us into new dimensions, into new areas. One of those areas is in the realm of faith. The Bible tells us and helps us understand that with our faith, we actually have purchasing power in the Spirit of the Lord. But all of us, the Bible says, go from faith unto faith. That’s what it says, it says, “The just shall live by faith and the righteousness of God is revealed from faith unto faith.”
In Mark 4:40, when the disciples are in a storm and they are fearful, and they are actually crying out to Jesus, watch what He says to them. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” Notice Jesus said their fear they were experiencing was a result of no faith in their hearts. In other words, they weren’t believing in who God was and who Jesus was and in His power to save them and to keep them in that present situation.
Many people today struggle with fear. So many phobias are in the world. They are afraid they are going to die young, they are afraid something is going to happen to their children, they are afraid they are going to get a divorce, they’re afraid something terrible is going to happen in their lives. They live with a constant sense of fear. Can I tell you the answer to that? It is really simple. Here is what He said, “Why are you fearful? Why is it you have no faith?” In other words, faith is actually something we can use to overcome the fear that wants to come in and take hold of our lives. The thing you need to know about fear is that it is a contagious thing.
The Bible says when Gideon was going to take down the Midianite army, and he had all these thousands of people in his army, God said, “Tell the ones that are fearful to go home.” Why? Because the fear that was in their hearts would actually become contagious and cause everyone else to fear. That’s the nature of fear. Here is what God says to you today. Believe who I am, believe my Word, exercise the faith I have given you, and subdue fear under your feet by the faith, by the measure of faith according to Romans 12, that I have put into your heart. Let me pray for you.
Father, I pray for all those that would be combatting fear. It is such a powerful thing in our world today. Would you let faith rise up in their hearts and help them to exercise the faith you have put in their hearts to subdue fear and no longer let it rule over their lives? In Jesus’ name. Amen.
