Hi, my name is Teri Secrest, with Joy Of Living and I want to welcome you to God Today. I have a question for you. Do you believe in miracles? I had a miracle 25 years ago that I would like to share with you because I still marvel at it today.
So, 25 years ago, I was pregnant with our third child, little Joseph. I was 7.5 months pregnant with 6 weeks to go. We took an airplane flight, and coming home, when the airplane went up to altitude, my stomach blew up like a balloon and I became very ill. We had a midwife who was going to have a home birth. She came over to the house and was racing over in her car. And she screamed at me over the telephone and that I was going to deliver in 7-10 minutes and I could lose the baby.
The problem was, we lived an hour from the nearest hospital. She actually wanted to call a helicopter and have me flown. I was terrified and begged her to wait for one minute before she made that call. In that one minute, I got out of bed and got on my knees and cried out to God in desperation. I said, “Papa if there is anything strong enough to stop heavy labor in our home, will you please show me what it is?” I instantly heard three words: oil of lavender. I thought, “What is that? How could that possibly help me?” But I had prayed and I believed a miracle because I prayed and was desperate and didn’t know what to do.
My husband went into the pantry and found a bottle of lavender that a friend had given us three months earlier. He marinaded my stomach in it by putting 25 drops, and in 25 seconds, my labor completely stopped. Can I say that stopped the labor? Absolutely not. I just know it calmed me down so much that the labor stopped.
So, let me ask you once again, do you believe in miracles? Do you believe God will speak to you if you are desperate enough? I learned He does speak to us. As a matter of fact, it ended up becoming my life’s calling that I have been doing for the last 24 years, helping people with their health and being a wellness coach.
I want to encourage you today. God still speaks to you today. He can’t wait for the slightest glance just if you glance in His direction, He can’t wait to speak to you. And something I do in business, every morning, that I want to encourage you to consider. Every morning, my business partners and I close our eyes for 30 minutes before we start work and we ask the Lord to guide us and talk to us and speak to us. He gives us the best business ideas ever.
