The Upper Room

Hello, everyone, and welcome to this morning’s edition of God Today. I am Ward Simpson and I am standing on the rooftop of the Upper Room here in Jerusalem. Can you imagine that? I don’t know where you are at. I am assuming you are in your bedroom, or your living room, or your office somewhere. Here I am in Jerusalem, bringing you today’s devotion. What happened in the upper room? We all know it was the Last Supper. Jesus broke his bread and drank the cup. He said, “This is my body that is broken for you, this is the blood of my new covenant.” We all know that. Other things happened here as well.

After Jesus was pouring His heart out and talking to His disciples about this new covenant, you know they really didn’t understand like we do today. The Bible says in Luke 22 that a dispute broke out among them. Can you imagine? Right there in the middle of one of the most sacred times of their livelihood, of their life with Jesus. Here He is introducing the new covenant and a dispute breaks out among them? What was the dispute about? It was about who is the greatest. Who is the greatest?...
