As a believer, you can use the gift of tongues, and when others hear it they’ll say, ‘What is this?’ And it allows you to share the gospel.

Hi, I am Jeffrey Levinson with GOD TV, welcome to God Today. Today I would like to talk to you a little bit about speaking in tongues, the gift of tongues, or glossolalia. I don’t know where you are in your walk with the Lord. I wasn’t gifted with the gift of tongues right when I found Messiah when I asked Him into my heart. If you are watching this, you probably asked the Lord into your heart. You know what? He has come in, but He didn’t just come in. He sent the Ruach ha-Kodesh, the Holy Spirit into your heart. The Holy Spirit, your guide. The Holy Spirit is the connection you have with Yeshua Jesus and the Father Abba, the Lord God.

One of the gifts of the Spirit is, the Holy Spirit, which is the gift of speaking in tongues. I am going to read a couple of verses to you. I believe if you don’t use the gift of tongues, you haven’t edified yourself. You haven’t elevated yourself to spiritual warfare, to perhaps intercession. And I think it is a gift that everyone should welcome and try to gain. Many have said that the gift of tongues is of the devil. Well, if that was true and the gift of tongues was of the devil you would hear it in bars. And if you have one foot in the world, and one fit into heaven and the Kingdom of God, you have never heard the speaking of tongues in bars unless it was from a Holy Spirit-filled Christians.

Let me take you to a couple of verses just so you understand it. In Mark 16 it says, “These signs will accompany those who believe in my name, they will drive out demons, they will speak new languages, they will handle snakes, and they will drink anything deadly, it will not harm them. They will lay hands on the sick and they will get well.” Here you have it. It is one of the gifts, speaking in other tongues.

I’ll take you to Acts 10. “When Peter was still speaking these words Ruach ha-Kodesh, the Holy Spirit fell on all those hearing the message. All the circumcised, all the Jewish believers who came with Peter were astonished because the gift of the Ruach, the Holy Spirit had been poured on even the gentiles. For they were hearing them speaking in tongues, magnifying God.”

And lastly, In Acts again, Acts 2, “They were all filled with Ruach ha-Kodesh the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Ruach enabled them to speak.” What is the gift of tongues? It is a spiritual language nobody will understand, you may not understand it. But it speaks directly to Abba the Father. It is a connection you have with the Father. The gift of tongues is not a known tongue. It is not a language that anyone can understand except by the Spirit of the Holy Spirit. And except by Jesus Himself. When you are in a tough situation, you might go into prayer and intercession. You might pray in tongues, you might pray in your prayer time, in your prayer closet. The gift of tongues, it is a gift to you. Use it. It will help you, it will edify you, it will raise you up in the Holy Spirit. It will open doors for you and it will close doors that were meant to be closed by the Holy Spirit.

Let me pray for you right now. If you have ever had the gift of tongues, if you have never spoken in other tongues, it is like living water. It will bubble up in you. I pray the Lord would bless you with it. He would cause you to speak in other languages, in other tongues. It would be a blessing to you and others that hear it. It is not for the believer, it is for the unbeliever. As a believer, you can use the gift of tongues, and when others hear it they’ll say, “What is this?” And it allows you to share the gospel. Yeshua Jesus gave the Holy Spirit comes within me and that’s what is coming out. I pray in Jesus’ name that you would have this gift, you would use it, it would edify you and build you up. In Jesus’ mighty name. I am Jeffrey Levinson and this is God Today.
