Hey, I am Derrick Gates with Derrick Gates Ministries and the director of From Death. Welcome to God Today. I am going to talk to you about the media, arts, and entertainment. There is something that they call, in Christianity, the 7 Mountains. Media is one mountain, arts and entertainment is another mountain. This is something a lot of people feel called to, a lot of people have aspirations of being an actor, or a musician, or these types of things in life. I have been both of those things. I have been involved in all aspects of media, arts & entertainment. It is a very dark place. And I am telling you that God is doing something amazing today by redeeming those two mountains. And if you are interested in pursuing a media or arts & entertainment, whether it is acting, entertaining, or editing…maybe even a musician, I am telling you that you can be everything God has called you to be and still plug deep inside that.
I think, really, what it is is that God is calling people today to be sold out in the world as much as they are in church. And what I mean by that is you might go to church today, and you might raise your hands, and you sing hallelujah, and you even cry when the worship is going. And you feel the Holy Spirit and all these things. That is real and that is relevant to what God is doing at that very moment. But what if you take what God is doing at that moment and you invade the media with that? What if you take what is happening at that moment and you invade Hollywood with the Holy Spirit? With the same intensity, the same passion that we see on the front pew of the church. Or in the worship area when people are getting prayed for – that same intensity. What if we take that into Hollywood? That is what God is calling us to do.
Listen. In Hollywood, as it is in Heaven. In the media, as it is in Heaven. In the music industry, as it is in Heaven. Listen. There is a cultural change happening. You can be a part of the change. We are on a pivotal balance beam moment right now. This thing could go either way. And I choose to weigh heavy on the hand of the presence of God. And let’s bring the presence of God into all aspects of media, arts & entertainment. People said that you couldn’t do it. People say you can’t go to Hollywood and be a Christian. I am an example that you can. We are in Hollywood and we are invading Hollywood with the Holy Ghost. You can do the same thing that we are doing. I know it, God knows it, and He believes in you and He is the one who has breathed that talent deep inside of your life. Like a seed that is planted in you. He is watering that seed and you are going to grow up and be a mighty oak within the arts and entertainment business. In Jesus’ name.
