Hi, I am Chantell Cooley, co-founder of Columbia Southern University and Chantell Cooley Ministries.  Welcome to God Today. Today I want to talk to you about building your inner circle. This is an important thing to learn, to make sure you have your inner circle tight around you.  I want to talk to you about David. He was in a tight spot in his life. Saul was running him down, his home had been overrun by the enemy. He just wanted a drink of water.

His three mighty warriors went behind enemy lines, now, to get him some water.  David was so shocked when he got this water, amazed that these people loved him that much, that he had to sacrifice it to the Lord.  He didn’t even drink it. This is a great principle to learn here. Whether you are in the ministry, you have your own business, or you work for someone, David really understood how to build his inner circle.

David took men and women, maybe people didn’t even care about, but he believed and he saw through the eyes of Jesus what they were made of.  These men sacrificed their lives for Him because He gave back. He gave it to them and then they gave it back in return. It is a great principle to use.  It is something my families use. When we started our university, we realized that we needed a great inner circle. We needed people that knew more than we did as we ran our business.  We didn’t need people like us, we needed people that understood academics, PhDs that understood how to run courses. As we put that inner circle together, we did really well. We went for our accreditation.  Sadly to say, we didn’t get it. We didn’t give up then. We started to put more people around us that knew even more than we did. The second time around we got accredited and now we are a university with over 29,000 students.  The key thing to building our success was putting the right people and the right place around us.

I love what John Maxwell says.  He said, “People don’t care what you say to them.  They don’t remember that so much as they remember how they felt when you were around them.”  That is key here. Maybe you are in a ministry and you just can’t keep moving things forward, you are stuck.  You can’t expand yourself. You see, you are the product of your inner circle. Sometimes we get the wrong people in our inner circle.  It is not that they are bad, they just don’t have the talent that we need to move our vision forward.

I want to pray for you right now, that you get the right people around you to do the right things, to do your vision.  Father, in the name of Jesus, I speak to the men and women there that have their inner circle. Father, I thank you for bringing the right people at the right time, at the right place to be around them, to help them move their vision forward for great success.  I break every assignment assigned to get you, that holds you back, the spirit of chaos that comes against you to turn everything upside down, to take your vision away. Remember, turn your failures over and stand upon them. You may be pretty tall, but you’re ready to do something big.  I bless you with success beyond measure, in the name of Jesus. Amen. I am Chantell Cooley and this is God Today.
