I am Jared Laskey with Fireborn Ministries, and this is God Today. Blessings to you. It is my hope and prayer that you are encouraged and your faith is lifted up through this as we get a glimpse into Scripture. I would also like to pray a blessing over you, that your faith will soar and that the presence of God fills you through this. Mark 16:17-18 says, “And these signs will accompany those who believe. In My name, they will cast out demons. They will speak in new tongues. They will pick up serpents with their hands. And if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them. They will lay their hands on the sick and they will recover.”
These were some of the last words of Jesus. This was after His death and resurrection. And soon before ascending into Heaven, Jesus was telling His disciples that there will be markers or evidences of those who follow Him. Signs and wonders will accompany those who believe in Him. In the name of Jesus, believers – that includes you and I – will cast out demons, seeing people set free and speak in tongues, which is a prayer language between us and God. And God’s hand will be upon us and great things will take place.
The apostle Paul had a viper bite him, but it didn’t phase the man of God. Instead, he threw it into the fire and still preached the gospel. When persecution takes place, God will watch over His followers. There will be reports of people being forced to drink deadly poison, which was a death sentence in the first century. But the Spirit of God would protect them. Do you remember the apostle John, the beloved disciple of Jesus? Some persecutors tried boiling him and he wasn’t hurt. These are signs and wonders, and you will be able to lay your hands on the sick and see Jesus heal them.
This isn’t just for evangelists, but for every believer, you and me. As Jesus said, these signs will accompany those who believe. If you are a believer, signs and wonders will follow you. And this is to be from the overflow of our time spent with Him in prayer and intimacy. Signs and wonders, accompany us wherever we go. Signs and wonders chase us. We don’t chase them, but they come from spending time with Him.
Now let’s pray. Jesus, we thank You that by Your power, by Your Spirit, we will see demons cast out. We will speak in new tongues. When we are persecuted, You will watch over us and protect us as we fulfill Your will. Thank You that we can lay hands on the sick and see them recover to Your glory. Thank You for giving us Your Holy Spirit and may we know Your presence and feel Your presence right now as our faith is lifted up. Thank You for Who You are. We love You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
