Say Yes to the Blessings of God

Saturday, June 19th, 2021

I want to pray over you today that you would say yes to the blessing of the Lord, ASAP - that you wouldn't delay it, that you would just say yes, and that the full blessing, the full promise of Jesus Christ would wash and pour over your life.

Hi, my name’s Dillon Lewis. I’m the worship pastor at Bethel Austin and I’d like to welcome you to God Today. I want to share a testimony with you about my wife and me. It was five years ago and God did something that changed our lives. I was officiating a wedding. It was the first wedding that I had ever done before, and my wife and I were out in Hawaii, which is an amazing place. Thank You, Jesus. And I felt like the Lord told me to tell the man who’s marrying the woman to make sure that he sacrifices his life for her to make her great. We hear in the Scriptures a lot about a woman laying down her life for a man. But what we don’t hear a lot is the truth that men are actually called in marriage to sacrifice their lives for a woman to step into her calling and her greatness.

So I’m talking about this and when we finished the wedding, a man walked up to me who I’d never met, and he was not a believer. And he said, “Dillon, I’ve never heard in a wedding about a man giving up some of his position to be able to make his wife elevated in their marriage.” And I said, “Yeah, I see that in the Scripture.” And he goes, “Well, I would like to pay for your first year of marriage.” My wife and I had been married for one month at that point. And I was like, What? There’s no way. I don’t even know what this is. I said, “Thank you so much, but I don’t think so.” So my wife and I walk away and the man comes up to us about an hour later and he says, “Dillon, I would like to pay for your first year of marriage.” I said, “Thank you. I don’t understand what that means, but thank you.”

He comes up to me again a third time – Michelle, my wife, and I are there and he offers us the same thing. His wife actually comes up to us and says, “We would like to pay for your first year of marriage.” My dad was attending the wedding as well, and finally, he leaned into me and he said, “Hey, what did that guy just say to you?” And I said, “Well, he said, ‘I’d like to pay for your first year of marriage,’ dad, but I don’t know what that means.” And he goes, “I’d like for you to say yes to him.”

So I ended up going over to the man and I was like, “You’ve offered this to us. I want to let you know, I’m a janitor.” I was very open and honest with him. I said, “I’m not a missionary right now. I’m not a pastor. I clean floors and clean toilets and I do it to the glory of God as much as possible. If you want to invest in us, you absolutely can. But I want to let you know, you’re investing in me cleaning toilets.” And he goes, “Great. I’ll send you a check in a month.”

And so my wife and I go home and a month comes and we get our first check in the mail. This came 14 months in a row. It was enough money to pay off all of our debt and to pay every single bill that we have. That check started coming every single month. And the guy wanted nothing in return. He didn’t even really want contact with us. He sent us one text in that whole fourteen months. Finally, it stopped and we were set up with everything we needed. It was so beautiful and we just praised God. We thanked Him so much. And we learned something about provision – about just saying yes to the blessings of the Lord. And we needed that guy to keep coming towards us and pestering us to actually take the blessing.

Four and a half years later, I got a call from that gentleman. He had just become a Christian and he said, “Dillon, I just became a Christian and I’m learning to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit.” And I’m thinking, Cool. I’ve never even spoken with you on the phone. I barely remember you, honestly. And he said, “I just heard the Holy Spirit telling me that I was supposed to call you and offer you a job to move to Austin, Texas. And I’m supposed to pay your wages, give you a company car, and pay all of your insurance.” That gave my wife and I an opportunity to be able to step out of a place of ministry where we were serving at the time and move to Austin, Texas to partner with Bethel Austin to help plant this church. And it’s just been amazing.

That blessing was a huge financial blessing that changed our lives years ago. But us saying yes led us into a place that changed the trajectory of our ministry. So I want to pray over you today that you would say yes to the blessing of the Lord, ASAP – that you wouldn’t delay it, that you would just say yes, and that the full blessing, the full promise of Jesus Christ would wash and pour over your life. And that it wouldn’t just be for you to hold onto, but for you to be able to give away, and that the trajectory of your life would be rocked and changed in a way that would impact the entire world. Jesus, we just thank You for Your goodness. Thank You for everything that You pour out on us. Lord, thank You for the blessing that changed our lives and that’s continually changing our lives. We love you, Father. Amen. Go with God.
