Hi, I’m Roy Fields with Aroma Fire Ministries. This is God Today. You know, I get asked all the time, how do you lead worship? It’s an interesting question because I think to myself, people don’t really understand that you don’t have to be a worship leader to lead worship. Let me tell you what I’m talking about. The book of John 4:21. Remember Jesus was sitting at the well with this woman, a Samaritan woman, and she was giving him a little bit of a hard time. He was reading her mail and telling her I know who you are and all that you’ve done, and the husbands that you’ve been with and all this stuff.
Then he gets to this really amazing point. You think to yourself, what does this have to do with worship? It has everything to do with worship. John 4:21 says this. “Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem worship the Father. You worship what you do not know. We know what we worship for salvation is of the Jews.’” And then He says this. “But the hour is coming and now is when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.”
Here’s the button on this. Verse 24 says, “God is spirit. And those who worship Him must” – did you hear that? This is Jesus. I think we should pay attention to the red letters – “Those who worship the Father must worship Him in spirit and truth.” And it says because God is spirit and God is truth. So how do you lead worship? You must worship by the Spirit. In other words, you know Who you’re singing to, you know Who you love, you know Who you worship. Don’t be like everybody else who just kind of fades off in the distance. Do you want to lead worship? Just worship. Let it come from your heart. It’ll change everything.
