Hello everyone! My name is Joshua August with Joshua August Ministries on YouTube, and welcome to God Today. Today, I’m going to be sharing about missing God’s voice. That’s right, I said missing. I thought this would be a fun story to share. I actually missed God’s voice, not once, not twice, not three times, but four times in 24 hours. I think a lot of ministers and saints, you know, we are afraid to act upon God’s voice, or you see all these successful ministers, or ballplayers, or actors, or whatever else, but you never really get to see the journey, the mistakes they made, the behind-the-scene things that make us champions. I think missing and making mistakes are sometimes some of the best ways to learn that you can in God’s Kingdom.
So, I don’t know if you guys are familiar with fuel treatment, but there’s a specific brand I added to my gas tank for treatment. And if you don’t know what it does is it removes a lot of the water and things that have crept in your gas tank and makes your fuel the purest possible. So, you know, it, you just get more gas mileage, better octane, etc, etc. So I put that in my gas tank and my car started getting towards ‘E,’ about a quarter tank and I heard the voice of the Lord. And there’s a great lesson in this because the word says, His voice wasn’t in the earthquake. It wasn’t in the wind. It wasn’t in the fire, but it’s a still small voice. So I guess this message really is about listening to God’s still small voice.
Anyways, I just heard the gentlest whisper, “Fill up your car.” And I was like, “No, no,” because I have a little Honda Accord. I’m like, I got plenty of time. You guys know, when it’s on ‘E,’ that means I got 20 more miles easy, but it was at about a quarter tank, and I was like, nah. And this all happened within 24 hours. So a little later on, I drove around a little bit and it’s more towards ‘E’ and I heard it again: “Fill up your tank,” but I didn’t, because I just, I knew my car. I ended up at a parts store the next morning and I’m walking around and I felt like to buy a gas can ’cause I didn’t have one. I’m like, why would I need a gas can? And I didn’t buy it. I know shocker, right? If that wasn’t enough, I’m walking around about an hour or two later and I have a mini vision. That’s right. I haven’t had a lot of these, but I saw myself driving down a major highway and my car just stopped working for some reason, and it scared me a little. I didn’t fully know what it meant, but all these things, the Lord was trying to get my attention. So wouldn’t you know? About four hours later, I’m driving down the Midwest USA, driving 70 miles an hour, folks. 70, 70 big ones. And guess what? My car shuts off completely dead, 100%. I had no idea what was going on. I’m on a major highway and my car, completely stops working. I have no idea what’s going on. So I gently coast to the median and pull over as best as I can. And just bring my car to a stop, and I’m safe. Praise God. And I really couldn’t figure out what happened at first to my car. And I check in all the basic things. I check the battery, the oil, all those types of things, you know, that would just make your car stop. And then I just figured out, I ran out of gas. Can you believe that? And it was because of the octane booster I put in there. It sucked all of the moisture out of the gas tank, which is what it’s supposed to do, folks. And I thought I had about an eighth of a tank, whereas I had zero. SO, ‘E’ on my car actually meant ‘E’ for the first time and God was gracious. There was a gas station about a quarter of a mile away. So, I locked my car on a busy highway, guys, so it was a little scary. And I hiked down to this gas station, and guess what? I have to buy a gas can ’cause I don’t have one. And it costs like $20. It was double the price of when I would have gotten it earlier.
So I just want to share this story for two main reasons: that God cares about these things, and He wants to protect us. He simply asked me to fill my car up. If I would’ve listened, I would have been gravy, but I missed those markers. So He’s like, “Buy a gas can,” ’cause He knew I was going to have to buy a gas can, and I didn’t. So I had to pay double. And then my car literally, just like my vision, stopped cold turkey going 70 miles an hour. Glory to God, I was safe, gracious enough, I was close to a gas station, put a gallon of gas in, and I was back on my way. But the moral of the story is, you know, it doesn’t matter if you’re a leader or whoever you are, you can still miss God’s voice. So listen closely and listen to His protection and His guidance. If you’ve ever missed God’s voice, I just pray a blessing over you that it doesn’t stop you or hinder you from moving forward. Sometimes those things can shut us down, but in Jesus’ Name, we just break off any failures or any things that might stop us from pursuing our calling and we move forward. God is the God of new beginnings, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
