Hi, my name is Sarah Crockett, and I’m part of the God TV team, and I want to welcome you to God Today. Today, I want to talk about hope. I want to read you a verse out of Romans 5:5. It’s one of my favorite verses. I’m reading out of the NIV. So it says this, “And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit whom he has given us.” The first part: “Hope does not disappoint us,” that is a promise from God. And I don’t know if you’ve ever felt hopeless, but I know that I have. And so when I read this, I’m like something in me needs to adjust ,because the promise is that hope will not disappoint us. Amen? And here’s where I needed to adjust. And I want to pray this over you. It says, “Hope does not disappoint us.”  And the reason why is because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. And so what I needed when I got into that hopeless place, I just needed to go back and let the Holy Spirit pour out more of His love into my heart. Think about that.  If you have a glass full of dirty water and you start pouring a whole pitcher of clean water in, eventually it flushes it all out, and the water is clean. And so instead of going through and trying to pick out every single piece of dirt out of the dirty water, that would take forever and it’s not even possible, all you have to do is get the good stuff in.

So if you’re feeling hopeless, I want to encourage you to let the Holy Spirit pour out His love into your heart, that you would just turn on worship music and just soak it in. Here’s my prayer for you. This is so good. I love it. You ready? I want you to be a sponge. And if you’re taking notes, write this down: Sponges do nothing. So good! When we’re a sponge, they just soak it up. A sponge just sits there and it just gets filled. And so that’s what I want to encourage you to do today. Whether it’s turning on worship music, or maybe you play an audio version of the Bible, or maybe you just sit outside in nature, just be a sponge today and let the Holy Spirit fill you up. Let Him love on you. You be that sponge, you do nothing, and hope will come back. Hope will not disappoint you.

So I just want to pray. Father God, Jesus and Holy spirit, would you encounter us with your love? Would you just fill us up as we be sponges in your Presence. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
