Hi, I’m Janae Werner with Time To Revive. Welcome to God Today. I have a little story today that maybe you can all relate to. It’s a lesson that God needed to teach me to get me to where I am today. I was in a Bible study 5 or 6 years ago, I believe. It was a study where someone through the question out and they asked if we were “willing to give up anything, anywhere, anytime, any cost, or anyone.” And they asked all these questions. And for me, in that moment, it was really easy to say “yes” to pretty much everything, except for the “anyone”. All of a sudden I got stuck on that one. I was willing to give up everything, I mean stuff is stuff. I was willing to give up my time and all of that, but when it came to “Are you willing to sacrifice and give up anyone?” As a mama of three, and a wife of an amazing husband, I suddenly got caught in the fleshly part of me saying, “I’m not willing to give up that kind of thing.”
I left that Bible study that day, I wrote “yes” to everything except the one thing. I went away and as God typically does, He catches up with you later on. He caught up with me a couple of weeks later in a moment where I felt like He was just asking me, “Why can’t you say ‘yes’ to that one question?” It caught me off guard, because I couldn’t answer it! But, all of a sudden, I was reading Mark 10:28 and it is, “Peter began to say to Him, ‘Behold we have left everything and followed you.’” And at that moment I knew the Lord was asking me to give up everything. A true life of sacrifice means taking your hands and spreading them out, and saying to the Lord, “I am willing to do anything and everything that you have called me to do.” It was in that moment my life really, really changed. All of a sudden I had this freedom. I had this moment where I’m not holding on to anything, because I am fully trusting in the Lord to take and do everything that He has told me He would do. He could use me in a great and powerful way if I’m not holding on so tightly to the things that I think are important, but instead, I’m saying to Him, “yes”, to everything He is asking me. I handed Him over that day, everything, and it’s drastically changed my life.
Lord, I pray for everyone watching today, that today is the day that you sit down and say to the Lord, “Yes, I can give it all up to serve you.” In your precious and holy Name, Amen.
