The important thing for me when studying the word and studying the scripture, is to not create a law about it, but rather that it be a lifestyle.

Hi, I’m Felipe Hasegawa with the GOD TV team. Welcome to God Today, this wonderful tool to helps us grow in the things of the Lord. I want to encourage you today about how to study the Bible waste and insights on how to navigate the scripture. I mean, the Bible is a big book. It is huge. And you know why it’s huge? One preacher actually said it is so large, because it talks about all issues of life. And it really does. It talks about all of the many, many situations and circumstances and themes in life.

And I want to explain to you a little bit how I go about it. This does not mean it has to be the way you go about it. It can help you do it. But, you know, the word has a sequence of books, and books have chapters, and chapters have verses. So the human mind, if you’re more like me, I’m a very linear person. I like things to be very predictable, as well as logical. I like to go about the word as it is, with books and chapters and verses. I devote about 30 minutes of reading the scripture, nearly daily. You saw some hesitation there for me, because sometimes I will go longer, sometimes I will go shorter. The important thing for me when studying the word and studying the scripture, is to not create a law about it, but rather that it be a lifestyle, a way to connect with the Lord through the scripture. And if I create a law in which I have to fulfill step-by-step, verse-by-verse every single day, that will create death in me. And this is not what this is about. This is about creating life, life of the Spirit, understanding of God. And as you choose to read the scriptures in a structured way, book-by-book, chapter-by-chapter, verse-by-verse, that’s great. Or I also suggest that you go about the word on a thematic basis. Maybe if you’re struggling with anxiety, make a research about it, about what the word has to say regarding anxiety. There are wonderful apps available today, wonderful websites that you can create a theme and go about it.

And I want to pray for you as you discover the scriptures day-by-day, situation-by-situation. Father, in the Name of Jesus, I pray for my friend. I pray that he or she will just learn from scripture in the way that it’s fresh, in a way that is life-giving, in a way that they can look back and say, I cannot wait to get to the scripture more and more. And that the revelation of the Holy Spirit breathed by you will be ever-growing in their hearts. I bless them in the Name of Jesus.
