Hello, this is Robert Henderson and this is God Today. You know, I’m so privileged to be a part of the GOD TV family, I actually have a show on GOD TV that’s called The Court Of Heaven With Robert Henderson. But I want to just speak to you for just a few moments about the mercy of God. Did you know that God is a very merciful God? The Bible says He is actually plentiful in His redemption and abundant in His mercy. In other words, God’s not shaking His finger at us saying, “Oh, you shouldn’t have done that.” No, He loves to show mercy.
Let me just show you something. Remember when the prodigal son got up out of the pig pen, if you will, to go back to his father’s house after he had messed up so bad, messed up so terribly bad? And he said he was going to go to his father’s house, and he was going to say to his father, “Father, I’m not worthy to be called your son. Let me just be like one of the hired servants.” We all know that story. What was he going to do? He was going to ask the Father for mercy. He was going to say, “Lord, please let mercy come into my life. And just let me be like one of the hired servants.” See mercy, what mercy does, is it is it causes us not to receive what we should. In other words, we’re delivered from punishment we should get, because the reality is there was no reason for the father, if you will, to accept the son back. But guess what happened? When the son came and said, “Just make me like one of the highest service,” his prepared speech, what happened? The father interrupted him and he called for the coat, he called for the ring, he called for the sandals, and he reinstated him in the place of a son. He said, “No, you won’t just be a servant, because I won’t just show you mercy. I’ll actually show you grace.”
You see, mercy causes us not to receive what we should in judgment. But grace actually gives us what we don’t deserve. In other words, grace says, “You know what? I am not only going to love you. I’m not only going to show you mercy, but I’m going to give back to you anything and everything that you’ve lost and even more.” This is the God we serve. Did you know He is a God of restoration? And when God brings restoration, when He brings restoration into our life, it’s always at a higher level than what we lost.
So I want to encourage you today. Let’s believe God, let’s come, let’s appeal to Him. He wants to show you mercy, but more than anything, He wants to manifest His grace in you. No matter how much you might’ve messed up, or even how good you might’ve thought you have been, God wants to show you His mercy and grace today. So Father, I pray for all of us that are a part of the GOD TV family. I pray right now, let your divine mercies, your mercies are new every day, let them come up on your people and let the grace of our God, be abundance toward us, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
