Hi, I am Tommy Colin with The Worship Factor ministry, and welcome to God Today. Today, I want to talk to you about worship and how a scripture has changed my life in my worship to God in a dramatic way. And, if I think about my walk in worshiping God in leading worship, in the beginning in my church, I was asked to lead worship, because I was a singer and a musician. So I started to lead worship, and some songs really moved me because it was something that was special to my heart, like being in the presence of God, in the presence of a holy God and then bowing down before Him, that was really moving me.
But many of the other songs, I was just singing the song in the church with the church and we were singing songs. So sometimes I would even see people in the church who started to lift up their arms and really start worshiping God, actually. But myself, I felt embarrassed, because I didn’t know what to do with that, because in that church, we were told that is not how you’re supposed to worship God. So, it felt weird to me and I didn’t know what to do with it. So I would say some part of our worship was not in the spirit. We were singing songs, but not really worshiping. But still, Jesus, when He talks about worship in John 4:23, He’s saying, “But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.”
So God is looking for worshipers who are worshiping Him in spirit and truth. And for me in the past, like I would say, sometimes my worship would not go higher than the roof. And, I really needed to change, but fortunately God transforms us along the way. And His Spirit gives us teaching and understanding. And so that’s one place in my life I really received a revelation, which was scriptural, and God’s really changed my worship to Him. And I want to share that scripture with you. It’s in Revelation 5:11 when John, like he says, he was in the spirit and he had this amazing revelation of the worship that’s happening before the throne of God. And so I want to read that. So John was in the spirit and he says, “Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, ‘Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!’ And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, ‘To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!’ And the four living creatures said, ‘Amen!’ and the elders fell down and worshiped.”
Brothers and sisters, this is amazing. This is such a powerful vision that John received in the spirit. And this revelation has started to shape my worship in a really powerful way. And then I knew that even if I’m here in the church with my brothers and sisters, giving worship to God at the same time, in spirit, this is where I am before the throne of God with everyone else, the elders, the creatures with the wings, the angels, and all creatures on earth, in the sky, in the sea. It is a universe of worship, giving worship to Jesus. And for me in spirit, every time I’m worshiping God, I’m in that place, I’m before the throne of God and it has changed my worship. It has given me freedom, because when I see everyone like all the elders falling down before God, and it’s not that hard to start lifting up your arms and even come to a place of freedom to kneel before God, when you worship Him. And also in my heart, like everyone is so involved in that situation in worshiping God, that in my heart, I started to be also more free to give all my heart. And then I started to cry in the presence of God and to receive the healing being in the presence of a holy God. So it’s really a transforming worship.
So I really wanted to share that, that in spirit, God has changed my worship life. And I want to pray for all of us that He would do the same for us. So Father, I pray for my brothers and sisters, for myself, bring us in your throne room, bring us before you, when we come to worship and give us this experience, this living experience in spirit. That as much as we are in the church with the brothers and sisters, that we are also there right in front of you, right in front of Jesus, taking part with this amazing crowd of angels, elders, creatures, and every living being on earth and in the sea, in the sky that we are giving a worship, living worship to you in all blessings, honor, power. Everything is given to you, Father, because you are God. And I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
