If you are going to meditate on something, are you going to meditate on fear or anxiety, or are you going to meditate on Him?

Good morning! This is Pastor Buford Lipscomb. I am from Pensacola, Florida. I pastor Liberty Church, oversee Liberty Network International. Welcome to God Today. It is a real honor and a joy for me to come to you today through GOD TV. We appreciate you being a part of our GOD TV family.

I want to share just a quick, encouraging word to you today. You know, the Bible says, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” I have found that so much of the battle in our lives as Christians to really live overcoming lives, is our thought life. Really getting into our thought life. The enemy today wants us discouraged, wants us filled with fear and pride.

I love the passage in Philippians 4, which talks about how we think. It is a passage that is familiar to a lot of us. I’ll take a moment just to read a little bit from the NIV version. It says, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I’ll say it again, rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Don’t be anxious.” Another version says, “Don’t worry!” Worrying is not a good thing. In the South in the United States, where I come from and live, we call “worrying” an American pastime. What someone has said about worry is, “It is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it doesn’t get you anywhere.” Really, it works against you.

“Be not anxious. Do not worry.” Notice what it says, “But in everything. In every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God and the God of peace which transcends all understanding will guard your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right [it goes on], if anything is excellent and praiseworthy, think about such things.” That word “think” there, literally is the word “meditate”. If you are going to meditate on something – are you going to meditate on fear or anxiety – or are you going to meditate on Him? Meditate, think of those things that are true and lovely, and good report, and the God of peace is with you. Have a great God bless you, we love you.
