Hi everyone, my name is Jeff Struss. I am the senior pastor of Life Center in Lynchburg, VA, and Director for Clear River Network. This is God Today. Early in my Christian walk, I had heard about revivalists praying this prayer, “Burn eternity on my eyes.” That thrust me into about a season of about a year where I would pray to God and say, “God show me heaven, show me hell, I don’t care, just burn eternity onto my eyes.” I would spend hours in my room just seeking the Lord. I found this verse – Ephesians 1:17, “The God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.”
I will tell you, it wasn’t long after that that I found myself in an encounter. It is like the apostle Paul says, “In the body, out of the body,” I don’t know exactly, but I found myself in a chasm. I felt I was between heaven and hell. I heard the Lord say, “You pick.” I said, “If I get to pick, I am going up.” Immediately I started shooting through the air. I see clouds, stars, planets, all my blood is rushing to my feet and I am scared. I say, “I don’t care if I die, I am going to stick with this thing.”
Beloved, can I tell you what I saw? Off in the distance, I saw a city glowing with sapphire stones as a foundation. I was shooting towards it like Iron Man, just firing towards this city. I popped up into the bottom of this city and I found myself in a room in heaven. I had been praying and seeking the Lord and the Lord was answering my cry. I found myself on a hardwood floor. There were bookcases, a bay window, a globe. It was as real as this is right now. I walked around the corner and I will tell you what I saw. I saw the Lord Jesus Christ sitting at a desk, reading the book of Jeremiah. Beloved, when I saw Him I fell to my knees. I began to weep, I couldn’t even look at Him. I just stretched out my hand and I said, “You’re so beautiful.”
After I don’t know how long went by, He stood up so I stood up and I stood and just looked at Him. Can I tell you, in heaven, you don’t even have to use words. What is inside of your heart is revealed to all. I stood there communing with the Lord as His eyes of love just permeated and crushed my heart. I just wept and looked at the Lord. I don’t know how long went by, but after some time He took a step back like He was getting ready to run, and He did. He lowered His shoulder, ran at me, bear-hugged me, picked me up off the ground, and drove me into the ground. I was obviously shocked. But, when I hit the floor, I fell right back through the floor. There I am falling backward and I see Zion and I see heavenly Jerusalem, the stars, the planets, flying by me. I see the clouds, I see my house, I see my body. I pop back into my body. The force of my spirit hitting my body woke up my wife out of bed and I couldn’t talk. Beloved, that encounter changed my life.
I want to tell you today – heaven is more real than you know. God is no respecter of persons. What He did for one, He will do for another. I want to pray for you, for a new season of heavenly encounters. Lord, get my friends. Let the Spirit of wisdom and revelation fall upon them right now. Burn eternity onto their eyes. May they never be the same, may they know God more. This is my prayer and it is in Jesus’ name that I pray. Amen. May God richly bless you.
