My Expectation Is Of Him

We serve a God who wants to continually show up, break in, and break out in His glory, in His grace, in His mercy.

Beloved, as we prepare to enter into the brand new, civil calendar of the New Year, I want to encourage you to think about what David said in the Psalms when he said, “My expectation is of him.”  One has often heard the expression, “Expectation is the breeding ground for the miraculous.” We serve a God who wants to continually show up, break in, and break out in His glory, in His grace, in His mercy.  To heal us in the areas where we need to be healed, to put us back together again in the areas where we have been fragmented, and to release us to enlargement in the areas where He wants to grow us in grace, in mercy, and in peace.  What are you expecting as we move into this brand new year?

I pray your expectations are managed well.  The way they will be managed well is that you keep them on Him.  He or she who believes on Him will never be put to shame, will never be disappointed, will find divine appointments in the flow of the Spirit and will find God causing as He did for Ruth in the field of Boaz to have the servants, the angels leave handfuls of purpose with every step that is taken.  My prayer for you in this New year is that you would be so focused on putting your expectations totally in the One who loves you and gave Himself for you. The One who is imminent goodness in the midst of every conflict and decision you have to make in the conflict.

In your expectations, keep them on Him, not on people that disappoint you, not on circumstances that are subject to change, not on whether it is going to work out or not work out, His promises are true.  They are “Yes” and “Amen” in Christ Jesus. If you expect Him to do what He and only He can do, I believe He wants to handfuls of purpose with every step you take as you glean from the harvest of righteousness that He has stored up for you so that those steps can take you closer to your kinsman Redeemer who wants to cover you with His glory as He covered Ruth.  He wants to bring you into greater depths of intimacy with His Father by way of his mediatorial work as your Redeemer, your Sustainer, and your Sancitifer by the power of the Holy Spirit. Have a blessed New Year!
