As beautiful as my encounters are with the Lord, I don't want to just bring Him what I think He would want. I want to delight Him.

Hi, my name is Bobbi Kumari and I am from Living In Light, and you are watching God Today. So, a big fat welcome to you, and whatever you’re doing today, whatever time zone you are in wherever you’re based.  I just pray that you would be so refreshed in this moment and refueled and reminded of how valuable and cherished you are by the Lord and how He is for you and not against you, and that He is with you the whole time. And I also pray that what I’m going to share today would encourage you.

So I’m just going to share very, very briefly from the book of Esther,  where we read in the second chapter about her being prepared, you know, for a whole year, with beauty treatments and ointments and, you know, oils and, um, purification processes, you know, all of that stuff in order for her to be presentable to the king when she goes to him. Um, and what we actually read in the second chapter is that the women, when they were given the opportunity to approach the king for the one night, that they were asked what they wanted to take into his presence. But Esther, she didn’t come up with anything by herself. She didn’t make any assumptions. She trusted what Hegai, he was the eunuch in charge of the girls and the harems. She trusted what he recommended and she went into the king’s presence just with that, and herself. And this is what the Message Translation tells us. It says, when it was Esther’s turn to go to the king, she asked for nothing other than what Hegai, the king’s eunuch in charge of the harem had recommended. Esther just as she was, won the admiration of everyone who saw her. The king fell in love with Esther far more than with any of his other women or any of the other virgins. He was totally smitten by her.

And when I read this, I was so challenged, and convicted.  As I considered what I go with when I’m entering the Lord’s Presence, like, do I go to see Him and be with Him and commune with Him and just hang out with Him? Do I do it from a place of presumption? And do I do it with preconceived ideas of what I think Jesus wants to hear or what I think He might like? Or do I seek The Holy Spirit to show me? And the truth is that, as beautiful as my times are with the Lord, most often than not, I go in just making assumptions and just, I have a way of approaching Jesus. And I think He loves that, but I rarely stop and ask Holy Spirit to guide me so that I can go into the King’s Presence and go in with something Jesus wants with that which would delight Him. And as beautiful as my encounters are with the Lord, like, I don’t want to just bring Him what I think He would want. Like I want to delight Him to a place where He would be so smitten.

And although I don’t think that Jesus can love us any more than He does because He loves us with a perfect love. And God’s love for us is so unconditional that He can’t love us any more than He does, but I do believe that we can delight Him. I believe that we can cause Him to be so taken and captivated with His bride as she approaches Him, you know, with just this fresh, evolving desire every single day, just to please her King.

And so I would love to challenge you today, that as you go into God’s Presence with that reverence, with that heart sacrifice, with that posture of thanksgiving and praise and just glorifying His name, just pause and ask Holy Spirit to guide you about what Jesus wants. Like Jesus, what is Your love language? Like in this moment in time, what, what would You like? How would You like me to approach You? And, I just bless that time that you will have with the Lord that, that fresh place of, you know, just delighting Him and giving Him fresh grounds to be smitten with you, like that we would give our Groom fresh grounds to be smitten with His bride. And so I just bless, I bless your time with the King and I just pray that it would be truly delightful and that, that you would learn new things about what the King loves and that He would find Himself even more smitten with you than ever before.
