Hello, my name is Lindsi Gross with Imagined Doula Services, and I want to welcome you to God Today. Get your Bible out today and turn to Philippians Chapter 4. We’re going to learn today about what Paul was talking about when he said that we could have peace.

He says in verse nine, four verse nine, ”What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me- practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.” Write down the word or underline the word ‘practice’, because it takes practice to do the things that Paul is talking about. Right before he says these things, he’s talking about rejoicing always in the Lord, Philippians 4:4, “Rejoice in the Lord, always. And again, I say rejoice.” And then he goes on to say, “Don’t be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts”, -underline heart, or write ‘heart’- “and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

So our heart and our mind are really important. They’re parts of our bodies where we’re thinking and we’re receiving maybe information or we’re receiving love, whatever it is, but our hearts and our minds need to be just pure and clean and renewed so that we can have peace. And so we’re thinking about things in verse 8, that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, things that are excellent, anything that’s worthy of praise. We need to be thinking about these things.

So we get peace by doing these things and practicing these things. So choose one thing out of here. Like, maybe you could think today about things that are lovely. If you start to feel anxious or worried, think about things that are lovely, start there and maybe each day choose something else to think about. And then you’re going to, you’re going to really feel that the peace of God just washes over your mind and your heart.

I’m going to pray for you. God, I thank You so much for your Word. I thank You that we can practice these things that are in Your Word, God, that we can do practical things, but also God that they’re practical, and yet they’re so deep. And God, I just pray for a working in each heart today. God, that we would be renewed in our minds and that our hearts would just feel the peace of God today, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
