Let your thanks flow into praise. And let your praise flow into prayer. And then let that be a declaration of how the rest of your day is going to be.

Welcome to God Today with myself, Nathan and Lydia Marrow. We want to talk today about the power of praise and how it’s intertwined with prayer. And, you know, often when I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is get a cup of coffee as I’m sure you do, too. But the next thing is I just start thanking God. You know, the Bible says, enter his courts with thanksgiving. It doesn’t say, enter his courts with worship. It doesn’t say enter his courts with me, praying a big long list of what I need. It says enter his courts with thanksgiving. So what I do is I say, Lord, you know what? Thank You for today. Thank you that You’ve given me this incredible day. And I often say this, you know what? If You never give me anything else in my entire life. And sometimes we come with a mentality of, what can You give to me, Lord? What I’ve sowed, I’m believing for this to come back.  No, not that mentality. Just coming with no other agenda other than you know what Lord? I’m going to thank You today. If You never give me anything else, as long as I live, You’ve given me enough, You’ve given me your son. I am saved. I am washed in the blood of Jesus Christ. So today I come to You, I thank You. I can’t quite believe that You’ve given me the life of peace and joy that You have. I’m just going to come to You, and I’m going to thank You for all You’ve done in my life for this incredible family that You’ve given us. For the wonderful two children, Malakai and Jeremiah, that You’ve given us. It’s more than enough and God you are so, so good.

See, and it segues right into You are so, so good. Thanksgiving will always lead you to praise. There’s always a progression in the protocol to approaching the throne. I know nobody really likes to talk about that, but thanksgiving will always lead you to acknowledge what’s good about God. We call that praise. We begin to echo back God’s reputation. When we entered the gates in the courts through thanksgiving, then we move into praise. But when we begin to praise, that creates a space for Him to enter into. It says He inhabits the praises of His people. When the Lord begins to inhabit the praises of His people, we’ve got to understand that most of the praise scriptures of the Bible move things both vertically and horizontally. It’s upward praise to the Lord. But the Bible says in Psalm 149:6 it says, let the high praises of God be in their mouth. That’s going forward going upward, but then let a double-edged sword be in their hand. That’s horizontal. So if I praise the Lord, You are the healer. And I give You praise that You heal every sickness and every disease. That’s a vertical praise, but it moves things horizontally. And so if there’s any sickness in my body, the upward praise becomes a horizontal prayer, that then becomes a prophecy. My life’s about to fall into alignment with the Word of God. So what we’re describing for you, yes, prayer and praise are intertwined and you get to both of those through thanksgiving. So take a moment right now.

This is, I love this venue to get it, come to you through God Today. I think this is so wonderful. Take a moment before you get into the rest of your day. Thank the Lord. Let your thanks flow into praise. And let your praise flow into prayer. And then let that be a declaration of how the rest of your day is going to be. Let’s just pray for them real quick, babe. Yeah.

Father, we thank you for each and every person watching this God Today. I pray that You would put deep within us a desire at the very outset of our day to praise You, to bring thanksgiving to You. That will lead to exactly what Lydia said, prayer and prophecy. Let that be our declaration that would overshadow our day. That would bring opportunities where we can share You with people. So Father, bless everybody that’s watching in Jesus’ Name we ask it, Amen.
