Hi, today, I want to encourage you with something that’s not super fluffy, but it’s true. So Matthew 23:23-24, where Jesus is talking and says, “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices–– mint, dill, and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law––justice, mercy, and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter without neglecting the former. You blind guides! You strain out a gnat, but swallow a camel.”
So I just really want to offer a prayer with regards to this, that if there’s any place in your life that you’ve been really doing a lot of measuring and deciding right and wrong, I can really relate to this. I feel like I really get caught up in this often, especially in getting caught up in even petty offenses. And that’s really a version of like deciding or feeling like I can decide right and wrong, instead of stepping back and pointing to faithfulness, mercy and justice.
And so I just want to pray if there’s any place in your life where you feel like you’re tied up, where you’re tied up in doing what’s right so that you won’t be wrong and determining what’s wrong, so that things can be set right, instead of leaning into the promises of God and what Jesus did on the cross for us instead. I just pray over you, release from these things and to settle in to the truth of the Gospel. And I just pray that in Jesus’ Name.
