Jesus Paid The Price

He came, not so that you could pay a price for your own sin and work your way into salvation, but actually so that you could put your faith in what He has done.

Hi, today, I want to encourage you with a really cool testimony from a youth here in Austin, Texas. I’m a youth pastor here, and one of my students at summer camp had an encounter with Jesus where he was in this encounter, and he was in a grocery store and he was standing in the self-checkout line and his cart was so full of all of these things that he was going to purchase. And so he is scanning them, he’s scanning them, he’s scanning them until his cart is empty, and he looks at the screen at the self checkout line. And the price that he owed for all of these items was, it was a price that he could never pay. And in this vision, as he is standing there trying to figure out, how do I pay this price, Jesus comes walking up to him, gets out His own wallet, gets out His own card, and swipes His card, and the price on the screen disappears.

The student was marked by this encounter and came and shared it with me, and it was one of the most clear pictures of the Gospel and the price that Jesus has paid for us that I’ve ever heard from a young person. And it’s one that I’ve shared personally with many on the streets, in churches where I’ve spoken. And I want to share it with you today, because it’s a clear reminder of the heart of Jesus, that He came, not so that you could pay a price for your own sin and work your way into salvation, but actually so that you could put your faith in what He has done, so that He can pay a price for your sin so that you could be set free.

So I just want to encourage you today that if there’s anything you’re facing that feels like it’s a mountain in front of you, that you don’t have what it takes to pay the price, to get over that mountain, to get the breakthrough that you need, even to cleanse your conscience. If there’s sin that you’re wrestling with right now, I want to encourage you to do this: rest and let Jesus pay the price again. He paid the price on the cross and He continues to pay the price day after day for sons and daughters that He’s pursuing.

So I just want to pray over you, off of this encounter. So, Jesus, I just thank you for whoever’s watching right now, and I bless them right now to rest and to put their faith in you simply, and to let you pay the price for whatever it is they’re facing, whatever it is they need breakthrough for. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
