I want to encourage you with the truth out of Ecclesiastes 3 this morning. It’s verse one, and I want to read it to you in the NIV. It says, “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven.” And then verses 2-8, a time to be born, a time to die, a time to plant a time to uproot. And it’s probably really familiar, but let’s go back to verse one. “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven.” And I just want to encourage you with this truth today, is that you have permission to be in the season that you’re in. And as we embrace the season we’re in even like a time to die, a time to live a time, to uproot, a time to plant. You know, there’s tearing away, there’s building up, there’s different seasons and they’re all valuable.
And sometimes we try to push through, you know, like, wilderness season, not my favorite, but they’re so necessary. Even Jesus Christ Himself, you read in the gospels, He gets filled with the Holy Spirit when He’s baptized with John and the dove comes down and the dove remains and that’s the Holy Spirit remaining on Jesus. And He has the presence of God. But then He gets led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness. Now how many of us would be like, yeah, Jesus, that’s a good wilderness season. You know, we think that Jesus would just be ruling and reigning the whole time. But no, He went through wilderness seasons, and if it’s good enough for Jesus and there’s value in it for Jesus, then there’s value in every season for you and I.
And so I want to encourage you to ask the Holy Spirit, “What is the gift in the season that I’m in?” Maybe you’re single, maybe you’re divorced. Maybe you’re married. Maybe you used to have a lot. You had enough money to pay your bills. Maybe you had an exorbitant amount and now you don’t. Whatever season you’re in, there’s purpose and there’s value to it.
And so I want to encourage you to just ask the Holy Spirit, “What is the gift in this season that I’m in? What are you building inside of me? What are you teaching me? What are you bringing me through? What are you breaking me through? What freedoms are you bringing?” And so I just want to pray that you would just have wisdom and revelation from the Holy Spirit and grace for yourself to be in the season that you’re in. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
