Hi, I’m Dave Harvey, the director of Increase Testimony, and welcome to God Today. Did you know that your testimony is designed to not only leave a legacy but also to propel the next generation further? We see this in the book of Joshua where God instructs the Israelites to get twelve stones and create a memorial for future generations. God did this so that the future generations could look at those stones and remember that it was God who stopped the river and allowed the Israelites to cross into the Promised Land.
Testimonies not only leave a legacy, but they also propel the next generation into their future. As a family, we celebrate testimonies that happen by purchasing things that are memorial stones in our house. All through our house, there are items or pictures which we have bought to remind us – “That’s the time God gave us $50,000, or that’s the time that God gave us breakthrough in that area.” When people come over, we can point to them and tell them that God’s alive and that He wants to do it again.
We did this as a family where we began to build a testimony tree and the testimony tree was a tree made out of paper, stuck to the wall, where every leaf was a miracle that God had done in our life. And you should have seen this tree grow. Over the five years we had it, it grew up the wall, over the ceiling, and covered the entire bedroom of our boys. What was amazing was that we began to look back and go, “That was when moms sang and two deaf ears opened, or that’s when our boys prayed for each other and their knees were healed.”
It’s important for us as families to celebrate the testimonies, not only to leave a legacy, but also to propel the next generation into their future.
